From Tuesday, February 25, Italy will host the second part of the event, which was suspended in November in Colombia due to a lack of agreement on how to distribute the 200 billion euros promised to stop the collapse of cash.

This is the last chance meeting for the COP16 biodiversity. The international gathering, organized in Cali, Colombia, ended in early November in failure on the burning issue of financing, in the midst of a crisis of confidence between countries of the North and countries of the South. After a night of overtime, the negotiations were suspended because many participants had already left the country. From this Tuesday, February 25 and until Thursday, February 27, a catch-up session will therefore open in Rome to try to reach an agreement. Agnès Pannier-Runacher, the Minister for Ecological Transition, will be one of the few European ministers to make the trip. However, 154 delegations (out of 168 countries) have planned to go there with the hope of deciding on an outstanding issue: the creation, or not, of a new fund intended to receive money dedicated to the preservation and restoration of nature.
