Jura: The trial of alleged traffickers of protected birds has been postponed.

Six men and a legal entity, a company in this case, were due to be tried this Tuesday, April 29, in a criminal court hearing in Lons, for bird trafficking that took place between 2017 and 2020. They are suspected of having captured, possessed, transported, exported and offered for sale Japanese nightingales, cirl buntings and linnets.
The first species is regulated, the other two are protected. This illegal trade is believed to have taken place from the Pyrénées-Atlantiques to Belgium, via Isère, Haute-Savoie, and Jura.
Some are also being prosecuted for opening and operating an establishment keeping non-domestic animals without authorization and for undeclared work.
One of the lawyers in the case was unable to appear before the Lons-le-Saunier court on Tuesday, so the case was adjourned until Tuesday, September 16.
