LIVE. Fires: 135 hectares burned in Martigues, 800 firefighters mobilized

"800 firefighters are currently mobilized to bring this fire under control in the best possible conditions," said Bruno Cassette, deputy prefect of Aix-en-Provence.
"135 hectares went up in smoke," said the sub-prefect.
During a press briefing, the sub-prefect of Aix-en-Provence, Bruno Cassette, indicated that "all people who are in a permanent house must remain confined" in Martigues.
Conversely, people who live in "fragile houses" such as mobile homes "must leave the premises."
In the Var region, in Fréjus, the two fires that broke out this afternoon have now been fixed.
Speaking to BFMTV, Commander Lionel Lepaulmier indicated that the fire is now fixed in Ardèche.
"The fire has subsided," the commander explained. "We will maintain personnel and vehicles on watch at the departmental level," the commander added.
By 9:30 p.m., the fire had already covered 130 hectares in Martigues, according to the department's firefighters, who emphasized that more than 450 personnel and more than 180 vehicles had been deployed to combat the flames.
Canadair and Dash aircraft and water-bombing helicopters are flying over the area.
"Confinement is the rule, evacuation the exception." In a statement published on X, the Bouches-du-Rhône fire department is calling on residents to "stay sheltered in a solid building" amid the ongoing fire in Martigues.
"Take cover, drops are in progress," the firefighters also said.
In Fréjus, two fires started on the A8, each covering three to four hectares, according to a press release from the Var Prefect. The A8 "remains open," the prefecture stated, adding that two lanes were closed "in the Nice-Aix direction."
400 firefighters, 100 vehicles on the ground and six water bombing helicopters are currently mobilized at 8:30 p.m.
The prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine, Amaury De Saint-Quentin, indicated on BFMTV that "120 hectares are currently destroyed by this fire" in the Brocéliande forest, in Brittany.
Several resources are being deployed: "65 vehicles are on the ground, 270 firefighters have been deployed, and four forest fire intervention groups are arriving "in a few hours."
In Martigues, the prefecture of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region published on X images of the aerial resources mobilized against the ongoing fire.
"Stay safe in a solid dwelling. Do not obstruct the roads. Close the shutters and openings of your home. Bring sensitive equipment inside. Water the facades. Let the emergency services pass," indicated the department's emergency services.
