Lorraine. Illegal logging: the forestry industry mobilizes

The increase in illegal logging is alarming forest owners, particularly in the Grand Est region. In response, the Fransylva federation is taking action, while the Metz Court of Appeal will deliver its judgment in June in the case of the theft of standing trees perpetrated at the beginning of the decade in northern Moselle.

The Fransylva private forestry federation is denouncing a "triple harm: ecological, moral, and financial," pointing to "the sharp rise in timber theft that is now spreading across the entire country." Determined to put an end to the plundering of the resource, the organization has just unveiled a national battle plan. "For several years, we have witnessed a whole series of highly organized thefts resulting from networks structured around sponsors, loggers, loggers, and resellers," explains Anne Dunoyer, president of the Grand Est Fransylva national forestry union.
