In this shed in the heart of Bresse Louhannaise, as every year since 2007, it's a rush. Seasonal workers empty the wooden crates and get to work preparing lily-of-the-valley arrangements. Why such pressure? May 1st is fast approaching , and the company "Horticulture des petits bois" must have lily-of-the-valley arrangements ready by then.
In Mervans, seven days a week, around fifty seasonal workers are hard at work creating various types of arrangements. With precise movements like an atomic clock, the bouquets are packaged in pots, sprigs, wickerwork, or cellophane.
