Occitanie: a major fire causes the closure of the A9 motorway in both directions between Orange and Narbonne

A major fire broke out on the first day of the summer holidays near Fabrègues, a town in eastern Hérault, this Saturday, July 5, reported our colleagues from the regional daily press, notably Midi Libre and La Provence . The fire is still ongoing and is now heading towards the village of Vic-la-Gardiole, near Sète, the same sources indicate.
More than 200 firefighters and four Canadairs were mobilized to fight the flames, Midi Libre reports. Meanwhile, the A9 motorway is closed in both directions between Orange and Narbonne, Vinci Autoroute announced on its X account. The passage ban is located exactly "after Sète n°33 and after Lunel n°27." Exit is therefore mandatory at Sète in the Narbonne Montpellier direction and at Saint-Jean-de-Védas in the Montpellier Narbonne direction.
