Sarreguemines. A city within a city to be maintained by the green fingers of the Specialized Hospital Center

Nearly 100 hectares to maintain, including 30 of lawns, 2 hectares of forest, 2.5 km of hedges, 47,000 ^m2 of parking, 6 km of roads…, “both sweeping and snow removal in winter,” explains Laurent Bender, head of the twelve agents in charge of green spaces, flower production, the farm and the mechanical workshop at the Sarreguemines specialist hospital . “We are multi-taskers!”

The CHS is a city within a city. But the team also works in the hospitals of Sarreguemines and Bitche, as well as at the IFSI (Nursing Training Institute) and in the facilities of Mouterhouse and Freyming-Merlebach. Each year, it mows and collects between 800 and 1,000 ^cubic meters of grass and leaves. "We have a little automatic watering in the greenhouses. For the rest, we do it ourselves."
