Researcher sees Danish offshore wind tender in conflict with EU subsidy rules
The model in the upcoming offshore wind tender will be in violation of EU state aid rules. The government’s decision, together with a political majority, to secure bids for the 3GW of offshore wind by allowing subsidies of up to DKK 55.2bn (EUR 7.4bn) via contracts for difference (CfDs) will disadvantage developers of onshore solar and wind power ineligible for subsidization, assesses Kenneth Løvenskjold Andreasen, lawyer and Ph.D fellow at the University of Southern Denmark specializing in climate and energy law.
