Homematic IP – 8 channels: intelligent and efficient underfloor heating

A tried-and-tested product comes in a new compact format: the Homematic IP underfloor heating controller now also features 8 channels . What's new? This new feature, present at SBE 2025 , joins the 12-channel model to meet the practical needs of smaller living spaces, whether detached houses or apartments. It guarantees efficient and timely control of water systems, with automatic hydraulic balancing.
Managing an underfloor heating system, as we know, means dealing with its thermal inertia , which prevents rapid adjustments to the set temperature. Manual adjustment leads to waste and comfort issues, resulting in overheated or cold rooms. The eQ-3 system was designed specifically to address this critical issue, effectively regulating indoor temperatures and cutting energy consumption. Specifically, the Homematic IP – 8-channel controller integrates motorized actuators and autonomously optimizes the entire system management.
Based on the set room temperature, the system automatically adjusts the water flow in the heating circuits. It also allows you to configure up to six heating/cooling programs with customized temperature profiles to suit your daily routine. Intelligent algorithms automatically compensate for variations in the heat demand of each room and in hydraulic conditions, effectively activating automatic hydraulic balancing at the circuit level.

Compared to traditional valves, the use of motorized actuators allows for significant electricity savings and virtually continuous heat flow regulation. Furthermore, the uniform flow protects the heat generator , extends its lifespan, and improves overall efficiency by reducing switching cycles. This is a highly relevant feature when heating is combined with a heat pump .
The compact design and various mounting options ( DIN rail, C-rail, screw ) make the device quick to install in the system manifold. Furthermore, pre-assembled connectors simplify the connection of motorized actuators. The backlit display clearly shows the valve status, simplifying installation and checking operation. All settings can be configured via the Homematic IP app.
The underfloor heating controller works in stand-alone mode , in combination with up to eight compatible wall thermostats . Or, it can be integrated into the Homematic IP home automation system . Finally, the device is compatible with more than 150 other Homematic IP smart products, ensuring further application flexibility.
See you at Homematic at Smart Building Expo, from November 19 to 21, 2025 in Milan, at Hall 6P – Stand H49 K50.
