Warm and sunny this last weekend of summer, with the weather set to change tomorrow.
Tomorrow, Monday, September 22, Italy will be hit by a wave of bad weather, according to the Italian Air Force meteorological service.
In the North, the sky will be very cloudy or overcast, with showers and thunderstorms gradually affecting all regions. Severe weather is expected in the Aosta Valley, Piedmont (with heavy accumulations), and Lombardy, while Emilia-Romagna will see a decrease in intensity by evening.
In central Italy and Sardinia, the day will begin with very cloudy skies and thunderstorms, particularly intense in northern Tuscany, then extending to Lazio, Umbria, Marche, and Abruzzo. In Sardinia, showers and thunderstorms will be widespread.
In the South and Sicily, however, sunny skies will prevail, with occasional showers in Campania, Calabria, and the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily. Temperatures will vary: lows will drop significantly in southern Lazio and Abruzzo, slightly in Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Umbria, Campania, southern Calabria, and eastern Sicily, but will rise in Sardinia, northeastern Lombardy, northern Marche, and Puglia.
Highs will drop in the north, in Tuscany and Sardinia, with a slight overall decrease elsewhere. Winds will be moderate to strong from the south in Liguria, Tuscany, and the central-northern Apennines, while elsewhere they will be light to moderate. Seas will be rough, with the Ligurian Sea, the northern and central Tyrrhenian Sea, and the Sardinian seas rough to very rough; the southern Tyrrhenian Sea will be slightly rough.
