Waste, RMB: Over 3 million tons of raw materials generated in 10 years

Waste, RMB: Over 3 million tons of raw materials generated in 10 years

Rome, November 5 (Adnkronos) – Over 780,000 tons. More than the equivalent of all the goods handled by Malpensa Airport in 2024. This is the amount of waste managed annually by RMB Spa, a Brescia-based company making its debut at Ecomondo, the leading event for the green and circular economy sectors, at the Rimini Fair.

"We have always pursued new challenges in a world where what is created does not end but is reused," the company says in a statement.

Founded in 1981 in Polpenazze del Garda, RMB began by collecting and trading scrap metal and, over the course of forty years, has become a leading company in the recovery and disposal of hazardous waste.

"Every year we extract an ever-increasing number of elements from materials considered 'waste,' in an efficient and sustainable process that fosters continuous innovation," it states. In 2024, the Lombardy-based group diverted 533,000 tons of waste from landfill and absorbed 16,000 tons of CO2 from bottom ash treatment. RMB employs more than 400 people, plus another 300 across its 12 subsidiaries and affiliates and various production sites in Italy.

Over the past ten years, between 2015 and 2024, RMB has reintroduced into the market over 3 million tons of raw materials generated by the processing of hazardous waste. Specifically, 1.6 million tons of ferrous metals, 694,000 tons of infrastructure products, 506,000 tons of non-ferrous metals, and 236,000 tons of cement products. Over half of the material, 53%, was used in the metallurgical industry, 30.5% in construction, and 16.5% in the steel industry.

The heart of RMB is its 100,000-square-meter facility in Brescia. Each of the company's more than 20 production facilities maximizes recycling efficiency and the recovery of raw materials while minimizing environmental impact. A cornerstone of the company's growth is its Research & Development department, driven by the goal of developing new technologies and patents that increase the quantity and type of End-of-Waste (EoW) products.
