66 dogs in extreme health conditions were rescued from a farm in Cañamero (Cáceres).

Mérida, Apr 24 (EFE) - The Civil Guard has investigated a man for animal abuse after rescuing 66 dogs in extreme health conditions from a livestock farm located in the municipality of Cañamero (Cáceres).
The incident occurred at the end of last March, when Natural Environment agents alerted agents of the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) of the armed institute that several dead dogs had been found on the property.
Following the alert, the Civil Guard arrived at the scene, where they discovered a livestock farm housing cattle, horses, pigs, and a large group of dogs.
Dead animalsDuring the inspection, the existence of several animals in extremely poor condition was also confirmed, including 66 dogs. The bodies of six dogs were found—three adults and three puppies—some of them tied by their necks with nooses.
Following this, urgent intervention was requested by veterinarians from the Zorita Regional Office, who confirmed the observed irregularities.
The veterinary report revealed the lack of registration for the ownership of animals other than dogs, "serious health deficiencies, a worrying state of health and lack of veterinary supervision for many animals, unsanitary facilities, and unacceptable living conditions."
MalnutritionHe also determined that at least five dogs were suffering from more severe malnutrition, with their ribs and bones visible to the naked eye.
Furthermore, the farm was only registered as a zoo for hunting dogs, lacking permits to keep other species present on it, such as pigs, sheep, and horses.
Finally, on April 14, the owner of the livestock farm was investigated at the Guadalupe Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) for alleged animal abuse.
The police investigation has been forwarded to the competent judicial authority in Logrosán and to the Environmental Prosecutor's Office in Cáceres. EFE
