Associations appeal against the wolf hunt in Cantabria and file complaints against the Minister of Rural Development with the prosecutor's office.

Santander, April 24 (EFE).- Ascel has filed an administrative appeal with the High Court of Justice of Cantabria against the regional government's authorizations for wolf hunting , and Ecologists in Action has filed complaints with the Public Prosecutor's Office against the Minister of Rural Development, María Jesús Susinos, and the Director General of Biodiversity, Ángel Serdio.
Ecologists in Action believe that both senior officials may have committed several crimes and irregularities by authorizing and beginning to execute the order issued by the regional government to hunt 41 wolves.
Specifically, this organization points to possible crimes of prevarication and crimes against wildlife.
Ascel (Association for the Conservation and Study of the Wolf), which also filed a complaint against Ángel Serdio earlier this month for alleged malfeasance, is requesting in the appeal announced today that precautionary measures be applied to suspend the execution of these authorizations and, thus, "avoid irreparable losses" to the wolf population while the case is resolved."
Asturias and Cantabria will eliminate up to 94 wolves between both communities.
He also announced his intention to summon the Cantabrian High Court of Justice to raise a constitutional challenge before the Constitutional Court.
The association explains that it has taken this step after the Government of Cantabria (PP) rejected its appeal against the regional government's decision to remove wolves.
Calm in the GovernmentThe Regional Minister for Rural Development, María Jesús Susinos, and the Director General of Forestry and Biodiversity, Ángel Serdio, are "calm" about the appeals and legal proceedings brought by environmental associations.
"Both appear calm because they are acting within the law," the Cantabrian government assures.
Furthermore, the regional government insists that the Ministry will continue with "the roadmap it has outlined, because it is essential to control the wolf population to ensure adequate coexistence with livestock farmers and their animals, given the unsustainable situation they face every day." EFE
