The Americas Carbon Summit will consolidate a new era in the carbon market.

The Americas Carbon Summit, to be held next October, will consolidate a new era in the carbon market, as evidenced by the pre-event organized by Green Cross UK and the Tennis Race to Zero Foundation at the Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence at the University of Miami. The Climate Positive Award was presented to the Minister of Planning of the Neuquén government, Rubén Etcheverry, for the Vaca Muerta Net-Zero initiative.
This award celebrates excellence in establishing a solid foundation for a Net Zero future, focusing on sustainability initiatives, community engagement, environmental impact, long-term vision, and collaboration, Green Cross UK explained to EFEverde.
Independent ForumThe Assembly is chaired by Green Cross UK's head, Ruy Campos Dugone, and serves as a neutral and independent forum for identifying the most prominent figures in the field of decarbonization.
Vaca Muerta, in Argentina, is one of the largest shale formations in the world, considered the second largest reserve of unconventional gas and the fourth largest in rock oil reserves. Its oil and gas exports have a potential value of $30 billion annually.
Foundations for fossil fuel companies to decarbonizeThis recognition aims to motivate fossil fuel projects to be considered sustainable infrastructure projects, with clear roadmaps toward sustainability. This includes the use of key performance indicators monitored in real time to ensure minimal socio-environmental risks and a systematic approach to decarbonization, Green Cross UK explains.
Along these lines, it hosted the dialogue "Ensuring Global Scalability of the Carbon Market through Risk Unlocking, Traceability, and Advanced Technology," which emphasized the importance of maximizing the impact of the Summit, to be held on October 10, 2025, by identifying and inviting new industry players to consolidate a new era in the carbon market.
This is a goal that aligns with the history of Green Cross, an NGO founded in 1993 by former USSR President and Nobel Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev, who established this organization with consultative status at the United Nations. Its collaborative model not only promotes effective leadership but also facilitates the continued inclusion of world-class thought leaders.
High levelThe Americas Carbon Summit, which is expected to bring together 100 high-level leaders from the political, business, and scientific sectors, as well as rating agencies and NGOs, will identify concrete solutions, announce significant progress, and facilitate agreements within the carbon market.
Meanwhile, at the preparatory assembly for the Decarbonization Summit of the Americas, Robert Do, CEO of SGH2 Energy, was named a Green Cross UK Hydrogen Champion in recognition of his contributions to technological innovation, energy security, positive environmental impact, cost competitiveness, and global collaboration.
