Madrid (EFEverde).- The best threads on science outreach on the social network X (formerly Twitter), with special attention to research on climate change, will be recognized in the fourth edition of the #HilandoCiencia Award, organized by the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI) and endowed with prizes of up to $1,500.

The award is open to researchers from the 23 OEI member countries. Participants may participate by posting a thread of up to ten tweets in which they explain, in Spanish or Portuguese, a topic related to their research in a comprehensible and engaging way.

This edition will prioritize research projects that provide solutions or knowledge to address climate change. Registration will be open from August 25 to September 15, 2025 , and participants must complete an online form , including a link to the thread they are participating in.

In addition, the thread must be published from your personal X (Twitter) account during the registration period, include the hashtag #HilandoCiencia2025 and, although the contest rules do not allow the use of photos or videos, they do allow gifs and icons.

The content must be scientifically based and aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This edition will prioritize those areas of study and research aimed at combating climate change.

Awards

There will be three winners: Third place will receive $500, second place will receive $1,000, and first place will receive $1,500. The winners will be selected based on the number of likes on the first tweet, "representing the interest in research to solve social problems in a sustainable way," according to the rules of the award.

The public announcement of the awards will be made on September 26th, during the opening of the Iberamerican Night of Researchers, an event broadcast from Paraguay (host country) as a proposal by the OEI to foster the link between research and society and organized in collaboration with the European Night of Researchers, a benchmark event for scientific dissemination that has been held since 2005 in more than 350 European cities.

A bridge between Europe and Latin America

Furthermore, this fourth edition of the #HilandoCiencia 2025 Award is being developed within the European Energytran project , for scientific cooperation for the energy transition between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean, coordinated by the OEI, and also has the collaboration of Nova Ciencia as a partner.

With more than 600 projects and 300 active cooperation agreements per year on average, the OEI represents one of the largest cooperation networks in Ibero-America. Among its results, the organization has contributed to the drastic reduction of illiteracy in Ibero-America, with an average of 11 million direct beneficiaries in the last five years. EFEverde
