Madrid, Apr 28 (EFE).- The peninsular electricity system is beginning to recover voltage in the north and south after the supply was interrupted around 12:30 p.m. for reasons still unknown, according to Red Eléctrica in a message on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.
According to the graph, which is updated in real time, around 12:30 p.m., when consumption was around 25,184 megawatts, it suddenly plummeted to 12,425 megawatts.
Reports of power outages have multiplied from all corners of Spain, while similar reports can also be found on social media from Portugal and other parts of Europe.
Red Eléctrica activates protocols for restoring supplyRed Eléctrica, the electricity system operator, has activated supply restoration plans in collaboration with companies in the sector, according to a message published on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The operator reports that a "zero" has occurred in the peninsular electrical system, which usually indicates a widespread blackout.
According to Red Eléctrica, "the causes are being analyzed and all resources are being dedicated to solving it."

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, along with his Third Vice President, Sara Aagesen, visited the Red Eléctrica Control Center to learn about the situation caused by a power outage affecting all of mainland Spain.
Sánchez, who met with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, at Moncloa Palace this morning, headed to Red Eléctrica's central facilities after the meeting, according to government sources.
Sara Aagesen, who, in addition to her role as Third Vice President, also serves as Minister for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, traveled to the control center with him. The government has reported that it is working to determine the origin and impact of this incident and is dedicating all resources to addressing it as quickly as possible. It also emphasizes that it will provide all available information as rigorous and verified data becomes available.
Madrid Metro and Cercanías affectedMetro and commuter rail services in the Community of Madrid have been interrupted due to the power outage affecting all of mainland Spain since 12:30 p.m., which has also forced passengers to evacuate stations. Both Metro and Cercanías have confirmed the service interruption through their social media channels.
Meanwhile, sources from the Ministry of Transport have told EFE that passengers have been evacuated from stations and that minimal operation is being maintained at transport interchanges, using generators.
Avoid traveling by carThe General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has asked citizens to avoid driving as much as possible due to the power outage affecting the entire Iberian Peninsula, as the lack of power prevents traffic lights and road signs from working.

Evacuation of passengers on the Barcelona metroThe power outage has left the Barcelona metro and train services out of service, leaving thousands of passengers trapped, in some cases in tunnels, and who are being evacuated.
According to sources from the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police) who spoke to EFE, the incident has mobilized riot police, who are focusing on removing passengers from the vans that are stopped at metro stations.
The Generalitat Railways network has also been shut down on the lines connecting Barcelona with Vallès, the Llobregat with Anoia, and Lleida with Pobla de Segur, and trains in urban areas are being evacuated.
