DELTA Energie scores sky-high on customer loyalty. Director: 'Loyal customers are the best proof that we do our job well'

Every year, research agency Multiscope conducts the National Benchmark Energy Suppliers ; the largest survey among customers of energy suppliers in the Netherlands. The latest survey shows that DELTA Energie has by far the most loyal customers of all energy suppliers. On average, customers signed their first energy contract with DELTA Energie 20 years ago and 98% intend to remain customers. 'Figures to be proud of!', says Bram Drewes, director of DELTA Energie.
Twice as long as averageThe Multiscope study shows that households are customers of an energy supplier for an average of 10.5 years. At DELTA Energie, this is almost twice as long. 'This can be partly explained by the fact that we have a very long history that goes back more than 100 years', Bram Drewes explains. 'We originate from the Provinciale Zeeuwse Elektriciteits Maatschappij (PZEM) that was founded in 1919. Many Zeelanders were already customers of PZEM, remained customers when we became DELTA and are still customers now. It is often almost a tradition that the children of these customers also choose energy from DELTA, simply because it is familiar and Zeelandic.'
Highest intention to remain a customerYet there is more to it. Because DELTA Energie, together with two fellow companies, also scores the highest on the intention of customers to remain customers: 98% indicate that they simply want to remain customers of DELTA Energie in the future. 'That, in combination with the average long period that people have been customers with us, is truly unique', Bram Drewes continues. 'Loyal customers are the best proof that we do our job well. Because that is also how Zeelanders are... they remain customers because you are reliable, deliver quality and do what you promise. If you don't do that, they can also be done with you very quickly.'
ZeelandWhether the Zeeland roots and the connection with Zeeland explain the strong loyalty of DELTA Energie's customers, the research does not say. 'The fact is of course that we are still a Zeeland company. Our customers ensure that we offer work to 150 employees in Middelburg. We make various Zeeland nature projects possible every year, are involved in major events such as the DELTA Ride for the Roses and are the only energy supplier to offer a product with 100% green energy from Zeeland', Drewes sums up.
Don't doze offThe striking figures are no reason for Bram Drewes to sit back. Drewes: 'What we are doing well according to our customers, we will of course continue to do. But the energy world is changing rapidly. That affects everyone, including our customers. We are busy with new things that enable our customers to deal with those changes. In addition, we would also like to see a healthy influx of new customers. The research results are great proof for new customers that you are in good hands with DELTA Energie.'
