Energy Storage NL now part of the Regional Team: update from the regions

Since June, Energy Storage NL has been part of the Regional Energy Transition Team. This partnership of industry organizations supports provinces and energy regions in achieving a sustainable energy system. Our participation also ensures that the topic of energy storage is strongly represented in the regional energy dialogue.

The most recent newsletter from the Regional Team (July 10, 2025) looks back at the developments of the past six weeks and shows how storage, generation, and smart collaboration at the regional level are helping to move the energy transition forward.

A selection of topics in the newsletter:

• Local energy generation offers space on a full power grid. Research by NVDE and Holland Solar shows that local generation, storage and mutual supply can reduce energy costs by up to 50% for entrepreneurs.
• Cookie baker electrifies without grid reinforcement A practical example from the Northern Netherlands in which decentralised solutions (generation, storage and an energy cooperative) offer a solution for an entrepreneur without available grid capacity.
• Suggestions for municipal election programs (2026) The Regional Team provides concrete texts and ideas for political parties that want to work on sustainable energy at a local level.
• Research into stray currents and infrasound at wind farms New studies show that concerns about stray currents and the health impact of infrasound are often not supported by objective evidence.
• Call: Make battery storage on agricultural land possible According to NedZero and Holland Solar, among others, there is an urgent need for provincial policy that relaxes permits for storage 'behind the meter' at wind farms.
