This is what accelerates the construction of coal-fired power plants

About 80% of this new capacity came from so-called captive coal-fired power plants, built specifically to serve industrial parks processing nickel, cobalt, and aluminum for the rapidly growing electric vehicle market.

Indonesia's focus on metals processing has accelerated the development of coal-fired power plants.

According to the Global Energy Monitor (GEM), since 2019, coal-fired power plant capacity has tripled from 5.5 GW to 16.6 GW, and the fleet now includes 130 plants with a capacity of at least 30 megawatts each, with 21 more under construction.
