Concessionaire fined R$103,000 for cleaning failures on Anchieta highway
The decision by the São Paulo State Transport Agency (Artesp) was published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday (8)
The Ecovias-Imigrantes concessionaire, responsible for the Anchieta-Imigrantes System (SAI), the main road link between São Paulo and the coast of São Paulo, was fined R$103,322.11 by the São Paulo Transportation Agency (Artesp) for failures in cleaning the Via Anchieta. The decision was published in the State Official Gazette on Tuesday (8).
According to the document, the fine refers to failures in cleaning gutters at two points on Via Anchieta, identified by Artesp in February 2020. The investigation of the violation was carried out based on an Administrative Sanctioning Process, dated April 17 of this year.
According to Artesp's decision, the fine must be paid within 15 days. Failure to pay the fine may result in other administrative sanctions, including converting the expected loss into a claim or registration in the Informative Registry of Unpaid Credits of State Agencies and Entities (CADIN).

In a statement sent to BE News, Ecovias-Imigrantes stated that it is awaiting receipt of the official statement to evaluate next steps. The company reiterated that "oversight by regulatory agencies is a mandatory routine in the monitoring of concessions, which occurs constantly on all highways granted. The concessionaire responded to the statement by stating that it has a different understanding, but the agency did not accept its arguments."
Via Anchieta is the only highway providing access for trucks and heavy vehicles heading to the Port of Santos (SP), the largest in the country. According to data from the Santos Port Authority (APS), approximately 20,000 trucks use the highway daily to access the terminals in the Santos complex.
