Port of Itajaí receives unloading operation of 712 luxury cars

The operation unloaded vehicles between BMW and Mini Cooper models, with the BMW 220, 420i and M3 versions standing out.
Last week, the Port of Itajaí, Santa Catarina, hosted the unloading of more than 700 BMW luxury vehicles. The vehicles were transported by the Brasília Highway vessel, which specializes in roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) vehicle transportation.
The ship docked at 10 pm last Thursday (18), while the unloading operation took place throughout the early hours of Friday (19).
"Ro-Ro operations are synonymous with efficiency: less handling, greater safety, and faster yard turnaround. By 2025, we had already completed 11 such berthing operations at the Port of Itajaí. With Brasília Highway, we demonstrated precise planning and execution, ensuring predictability for importers and fluidity in the logistics chain. Itajaí is once again becoming one of the country's major logistics players," stated João Paulo Tavares Bastos, superintendent of the Port of Itajaí.
The operation unloaded 712 luxury cars, including BMW and Mini Cooper models, with the BMW 220, 420i and M3 versions standing out.
According to the Port of Itajaí Superintendence, vehicle operations have relied heavily on local labor, continuous flow of car-carrying trucks, well-organized yards, and the use of digital control systems for real-time monitoring. All of these measures reduce overall operating time.
"The Port of Itajaí is re-assuming a prominent role among the country's major logistics players, especially for value-added cargo such as luxury or electrified vehicles," Bastos concluded.
