2 billion 27 million lira capacity support for domestic coal and gas power plants

Energy Journal - In May, 2 billion 27 million 625 thousand TL capacity support was given to 32 domestic coal and natural gas power plants that had difficulty operating under market conditions. Approximately 1 billion 224 million TL of the payments were given to natural gas power plants.

Turkey Electricity Transmission Inc. ( TEİAŞ ) published the 'Capacity Mechanism Payment List' for May 2025. Accordingly, 2 billion 27 million 625 thousand 287 TL was paid to 32 domestic coal and natural gas-fired power plants for May.

In the previous month, 2 billion 11 million 483 thousand TL was paid to 32 power plants within the scope of the capacity mechanism. Thus, the total amount paid in the March period increased by approximately 0.8% compared to the previous month.

Of the power plants that received capacity support, 16 are domestic coal-fired thermal power plants and 16 are natural gas-fired power plants. Approximately 1 billion 224 million TL of the capacity support was given to natural gas-fired power plants and approximately 804 million TL to domestic coal-fired power plants.
