Green vision message from President Erdoğan

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan went to Azerbaijan to attend the 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit. Arriving in the Fuzuli city of Azerbaijan by private plane “TUR”, Erdoğan was welcomed by Azerbaijani officials at Fuzuli Airport. He then went to Khankendi, where the summit was held, and was welcomed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
THEME OF THE SUMMIT: A SUSTAINABLE AND CLIMATE-RESISTANT FUTURESpeaking at the summit, which was held this year under the theme of “New ECO Vision for a Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Future,” President Erdoğan gave important messages regarding Türkiye’s environmental policies and green development vision. Erdoğan said, “We are resolutely pursuing our net zero emission and green development goals.”
ZERO WASTE PROJECT AND NEW ENERGY EFFICIENCY PLANReferring to the environmental projects implemented in Türkiye, Erdoğan stated that the Climate Law had been accepted and that 6 million tons of greenhouse gas had been eliminated thanks to the Zero Waste Project. Erdoğan also announced that they aimed to reduce emissions by 100 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent within the scope of the 2024-2030 National Energy Efficiency Action Plan.
President Erdoğan also drew attention to the need to increase the trade volume between ECO countries. Emphasizing that the $100 billion target for regional trade should now be raised to higher levels, Erdoğan called for deepening cooperation within this framework.
