Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar spoke in Malatya

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Bayraktar spoke in Malatya

Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar said, “We currently have natural gas in over 900, nearly 960 settlements in 81 provinces. 85 percent of our population has access to natural gas. But our goal is to ensure that all our citizens can benefit from this service, this comfortable, more convenient fuel.”

Minister Bayraktar, in his speech at the AK Party Malatya Provincial Headquarters, said that the city was one of the cities most affected by the February 6, 2023 earthquakes in terms of physical and infrastructure.

Emphasizing that they are working with all their might to get the city back on its feet, Bayraktar said:

“Tens of thousands of settlements were delivered to the rightful owners. They started to settle there. But think about it, when they settled there, you could not provide electricity service, you could not provide natural gas service. Of course, it is not possible for something like this to find a response. Therefore, thank God, all our institutions have completed these simultaneously and completely. The other parts are continuing to be completed.”

Bayraktar, who stated that they brought natural gas to 81 provinces in Türkiye, said, “We currently have natural gas in over 900, nearly 960 settlements in 81 provinces. 85 percent of our population has access to natural gas. But our goal is to ensure that all our citizens can benefit from this service, this comfortable, more convenient fuel.”

Bayraktar stated that they think the electricity grid in the city is getting old and noted the following:

“Our electricity consumption has increased in every sense. The renewal of our transformers, transmission lines and distribution lines in this sense is a very important stage… Of course, this is not only valid for Malatya, but also for the whole of Turkey. Therefore, we are entering a major transformation process here. We now need a new system design and architecture. The upcoming 2026-2030 period and the process we plan will hopefully take shape accordingly. Here, we will also take into account the effects of the earthquake and the impact of 2.5-3 years. In our 4 provinces and 2 districts, which were particularly affected by the earthquake, we will implement the electricity and natural gas network architecture and infrastructure in this sense.”
