RISE WITH THE ISRAEL-IRAN WAR
Iran has one of the world's largest natural gas reserves. The country has a giant field called South Pars and has an estimated reserve of about 33 trillion cubic meters, ranking third in the world after Russia and Qatar.
On June 13, Israel launched airstrikes as part of Operation Rising Lion against nuclear and military facilities in Iran. Retaliatory missiles and drones came from Iran. Geopolitical tensions in the region escalated during this period. The attacks began pricing in the risk of supply disruptions in the European gas market. Dutch TTF contracts rose by more than 4% to €37.7 per megawatt-hour, the fastest daily increase in five weeks.
Experts believe that the conflict will not reach a level that will affect the Strait of Hormuz and that there will be no serious disruption to Iran's gas infrastructure. In parallel, natural gas prices fell to €35-36 after the ceasefire was announced on June 24.
