Bayraktar stated that the plant's current operator has failed to make the necessary investments, saying, "We will be making a change in Soma. We will replace the operator that has failed to make the necessary investments. Next month, Soma will continue on its path with the new operator."

INCENTIVE PACKAGE FOR DOMESTIC COAL PRODUCTION

Minister Bayraktar also announced that they are working on a new incentive package to increase domestic coal production and reduce import dependency. However, he emphasized that only companies that fulfill their obligations will benefit from this package.

According to the incentive package;

Power plants that do not invest in the environment,

Companies that do not pay miners,

Businesses with debt to the public will not be able to benefit from support.

Companies that pay their debts will be able to benefit from the incentive package.

“SOMA POWER PLANT IS OF VITAL IMPORTANCE”

Bayraktar, emphasizing Soma's strategic importance in terms of both supply security and reducing external dependency, said, "This is Soma. It's a place that breaks our hearts, a place where we have martyrs. We will visit our martyrs. We want to continue with a mindset that prioritizes human and occupational health. The Soma Power Plant directly employs 13,000 people. We want all stakeholders to ensure the continued operation of this power plant."
