This time, the illegal electricity was caught in a satellite

Dicle Elektrik, serving the Southeastern Anatolia Region with the goal of distributing lossless, uninterrupted, and high-quality energy, continues to effectively utilize technology in the fight against electricity theft. The company has achieved significant results with smart grids, artificial intelligence systems, and drones, and is also utilizing satellite technology in its fight against theft. Satellite imagery identified the theft of electricity used for agricultural irrigation in the Çınar district of Diyarbakır, amounting to approximately 2 million Turkish Lira in losses.
Caught with satellite imagery
Dicle Electricity experts detected suspicious consumption in the Karabudak neighborhood of the Çınar district using artificial intelligence-assisted analysis. Smart grid checks revealed that an agricultural water subscriber had used external interference to prevent remote readings. Satellite imaging technology was subsequently deployed to uncover the illegal electricity use. The footage revealed that the subscriber, despite having a 160 kVA subscription, had unauthorizedly used a 250 kVA transformer, planted corn as a secondary crop, and irrigated it with illegal electricity. When it was determined that the subscriber had used approximately 2 million Turkish Lira worth of illegal electricity by disconnecting the voltage terminals, administrative and legal action was taken against him.
He attacked the team when he learned of the punishment
Dicle Electricity dispatched a field team to Karabudak to conduct an on-site inspection of the identified illegal use. However, upon learning that he had been fined for using illegal electricity, the subscriber began attacking the inspection team, hurling insults at them. The individual, who punched the officers inside the vehicle, was calmed down by the team's intervention. An investigation has been launched into the attack, and Dicle Electricity officials issued the following public statement:
While electricity theft has been largely controlled in provincial centers, it remains a serious problem in rural and agricultural irrigation areas. This situation harms both the national economy and our energy infrastructure. However, it's important to remember that undetected consumption is no longer possible. With smart grids, artificial intelligence, drones, and satellite-assisted agricultural analysis, concealing theft has become impossible. We urge everyone who uses or is considering using illegal electricity to obtain energy legally.
