TREDAŞ Provides Immediate Response to the Şarköy-Gelibolu Forest Fire

The forest fire, which began in Tekirdağ's Şarköy district on Tuesday, July 15, and spread from Çanakkale to Gelibolu , deeply distressed locals and nature lovers. Driven by strong winds, the blaze threatened wildlife , natural areas , and agricultural activities .

Trakya Electricity Distribution Inc. (TREDAŞ) provided technical support to crisis management in the region from the moment the fire began. The company maintained uninterrupted communication with local authorities and other authorized institutions, contributing to the efforts with its 24/7 field teams .

TREDAŞ teams quickly reached every point needed and took an active role to ensure energy security.

There have been various public comments regarding the cause of the fire. Some, in particular, suggested that the fire may have been caused by a power line . TREDAŞ issued a clear statement regarding these claims:

"There are no power lines belonging to our organization in the area where the fire started. There is only a contact line belonging to a private company in this area. This line is outside TREDAŞ's area of responsibility."

With this statement, the institution stated that it will continue to inform the public with transparency .

TREDAŞ extended its best wishes to all citizens affected by the forest fire. The statement included the following: “We hope that such disasters, which harm nature, human life, and all living things, will never occur again.”
