Türkiye-China energy partnership grows

Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar made important statements regarding potential new energy projects with China. Bayraktar said, "We can collaborate on nuclear energy, renewable energy, energy transmission, and mining."
HIGH-LEVEL CONTACTS IN CHINABayraktar recalled that he held meetings in China in recent weeks as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit. He stated that he met with National Energy Administration Director Wang Hongzhi, National Development and Reform Commission Chairman Zheng Shanjie, and Chinese companies. Bayraktar said, "There are many areas where we can collaborate in the energy sector."
OFFSHORE WIND PROJECTBayraktar, who stated that one of the concrete projects being discussed with Chinese companies is Türkiye's first offshore wind project, said, "Hopefully, we will realize this with Chinese companies."
POWER TRANSMISSION LINES AND NEW INVESTMENTSBayraktar, noting that Türkiye announced a $30 billion program until 2035 to strengthen its electricity transmission lines, emphasized that this project is compatible with China's "Belt and Road Initiative."
Bayraktar stated that Türkiye offers serious opportunities in energy storage and battery production, and announced that Chinese companies are planning production in Türkiye.
VISION OF A GIANT ENERGY PARK IN THRACEBayraktar said he shared with his Chinese counterparts a proposal to transform the planned new nuclear power plant in Thrace into a massive energy and data park encompassing solar, wind, storage, a data center, and nuclear energy, and that the project has attracted considerable interest.
RARE EARTH ELEMENTS AND MINERALSBayraktar stated that cooperation talks with China are ongoing to bring rare earth elements discovered in Türkiye into the economy, and that cooperation in the field of oil and natural gas is also ongoing.
Bayraktar said that Türkiye and China could undertake joint projects not only between the two countries but also in different regions such as Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and the Balkans.
Türkiye'S POTENTIAL TO BECOME A PRODUCTION BASEBayraktar emphasized that Türkiye's growing economy and strategic location offer significant opportunities, saying, "It's possible to transform Türkiye into a second production base and expand into different regions from there. Come produce solar panels and wind turbines in Türkiye. Our infrastructure is ready."
