Hungarian-American energy deal on the horizon

In the future, cooperation between Hungary and the United States will focus on economic and business issues, building on good political relations, Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, told MTI on Thursday in Washington, after meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.

“We agreed that instead of ideological and political cooperation, we will focus on the economy and business in the coming years,” Mr Magyar said, stressing that the new basis for cooperation could bring tangible results in the energy sector in the short term.

The topics discussed by the Hungarian and US deputy foreign ministers also included preparations for the highest-level political meeting between the two countries. According to Mr Magyar, the US government sees Hungary as a key European partner.
