Hungary and Slovakia sign agreement to increase gas interconnection capacity

As previously planned, Hungarian and Slovak TSOs, FGSZ and Eustream, have signed an amendment to their Interconnection Agreement to increase capacity from Hungary to Slovakia from 3.5 billion cubic metres per year (bcma) to 4.38 bcma. The offering of the increased capacity is still subject to national regulatory approval.
As a result of optimisation carried out on the FGSZ system, the uninterruptible additional capacity at the Slovak-Hungarian border crossing will be an important step in the creation of the Vertical Corridor.
After the necessary system developments, this will improve two-way transportation between north and south in the region, making use of potential regional natural gas sources as well as new and developing LNG capacities.
