The Lithuanian Energy Ministry launches PPA regulation consultations

The Lithuanian Ministry of Energy is initiating consultations with key stakeholders, producers of renewable energy and large-scale electricity consumers, to explore the implementation and development opportunities of the renewable energy purchase agreements (PPAs) in the country, stated the ministry. This action aligns with Lithuania’s implementation of the European Parliament and Council Directive (EU) 2023/2413.
These agreements play a vital role in advancing national energy goals, ensuring a stable investment climate, and helping the expansion of renewable energy. While the legal framework for PPAs is established, the market in Lithuania remains in its early stages with limited activity.
The consultations will focus on identifying obstacles faced by market participants, evaluating possible updates to legislation or procedures, and addressing financial risk mitigation strategies.
