During his visit to Athens, Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu held a series of important meetings with key players in the Greek energy sector, including the Greek Deputy Minister of Energy, Nikos Tsafos, the management of DESFA, the Greek natural gas transmission system operator, Georgios Stasis, CEO of the Public Power Corporation (PPC) and Kostis Sifnaios, Director of Gastrade.

In a meeting with Maria Rita Galli, CEO of DESFA, they discussed ongoing projects aimed at interconnecting natural gas systems, placing particular emphasis on the vertical corridor’s strategic importance. They agreed to step up cooperation to strengthen this regional initiative further.

Minister Junghietu reiterated the crucial role of the Vertical Corridor for the energy security of Moldova and highlighted the need for uniform and transparent tariffs along the entire corridor route.

Discussions with Kostis Sifnaios, CEO of Gastrade, focused on diversifying supply sources in the region, while Georgios Stasis was presented with Moldova’s energy sector reforms and investment opportunities, particularly the tenders for large eligible producer status.

The meeting with Deputy Minister of Energy, Nikos Tsafos, allowed for a review of energy market developments in both countries, focusing on regional risks and challenges in the field of gas and electricity.
