Climate change and the global drive for greater sustainability are increasingly shifting the use of renewable energies into the social and political spotlight. To facilitate access to green energy for both private households and professional installers, Digitus has expanded its product range.
The cables were designed for the requirements of solar systems – for outdoor use as well as for complex installations in home projects or professional system solutions.
Extension cable with MC4 connectorsWith the solar obligation already in force in several federal states since 2025 for new buildings, roof renovations and commercial properties, as well as further legal requirements that are emerging for 2026, the pressure on building owners, companies and public authorities to accelerate the expansion of photovoltaic systems is growing.
The extension cables were specially developed for use in photovoltaic systems – for example, balcony power plants. They are equipped with pre-assembled MC4 connectors that enable quick, tool-free connection to solar modules, inverters, and other components. Thanks to their flexible cable construction, they can be installed even in tight radii.
The flame-retardant cable jacket, certified according to UL94 V-0, provides safety in the event of a fire. The cables are certified according to CE, EN 50618, EN 60332-1-2 (Eca), and EN 62852:2015, making them approved for international use. They are also suitable for permanent outdoor use: their weather resistance and durability make them an integral part of any solar installation. The cables are available in lengths of 1 m, 3 m, 5 m, 10 m, and 15 m, and with a conductor cross-section of 4 mm² or 6 mm² – with a dielectric strength of up to 1500 V DC.
Installation cables for permanent outdoor applicationsThe range is complemented by installation cables, which provide a connection solution for photovoltaic and solar systems. Thanks to tinned copper conductors, they ensure conductivity and corrosion protection. The combination of XLPO insulation and a durable sheath makes these cables resistant to weathering and UV radiation.
They are flexible enough for easy installation, making it ideal for both professional applications and home projects. Their temperature resistance from -40°C to +90°C ensures reliability even under extreme conditions. The flame-retardant design complies with the EN 50618:2014 standard and contributes to system safety.
The installation cables are available in lengths of 20 and 50 meters and with a diameter of 6 mm². They support both DC voltages up to 1500 V and AC voltages up to 1 kV.
"With our solar cables, we are setting a clear example for sustainability and innovation in the field of renewable energies," says Thomas Schwientek, Senior Product Manager at Digitus. "The cable solutions offer users a reliable, safe, and simple way to optimize their own solar systems."
