Differentiated traffic will be implemented on Saturday, June 21 in Lyon due to an episode of ozone pollution.

After activating the information-recommendation level this Friday, the Rhône prefecture announced that it is activating an orange alert due to a significant pollution episode caused by the ongoing heatwave in Lyon.

" On Saturday, June 21, the heatwave conditions will continue to be conducive to an increase in ozone concentrations ," said Atmo Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the region's air quality observatory.

Restrictive measures are therefore being implemented for this Saturday. The speed limit has been temporarily reduced to 70 km/h on the department's main roads, which are limited to 80 or 90 km/h. A 20 km/h reduction has also been introduced on roads where the speed is higher than 90 km/h.

Differentiated traffic is also in place. Only Crit'Air 0, 1, or 2 vehicles will be allowed to circulate within the ZFE perimeter, while exemptions for low-mileage drivers are suspended. Note that vehicles carrying three or more people are not affected. These measures take effect Saturday at 5 a.m.

Other measures relating to the industrial and construction sectors have been taken. They can be viewed on the prefecture's website .

🟠 Pollution alert! Tomorrow, sunshine and high temperatures will continue, and winds will be lighter throughout the region. These conditions will remain conducive to ozone formation and accumulation, so concentrations are expected to continue rising. pic.twitter.com/LVAbBXfDxk
