Gueugnon. As the Arroux becomes a fragile water resource, a water table capture project is taking shape.
The Arroux River is bearing the brunt of consecutive droughts. However, the residents of Gueugnon are supplied with water through a catchment in the river. A project to capture water from the groundwater, as in the 20th century, has been launched by the city as an alternative and sustainable solution. Piezometers have recently been installed to study the quantity and quality of groundwater.

Summer 2019. The level of the Arroux had fallen by 40 centimeters in the middle of August due to a historic drought. This raised fears for the city of running out of tap water. Since then, the municipality, through its Gueugnon water authority, has been working on long-term solutions to avoid a repeat of this situation every summer.
