Who goes hunting... wins Emmanuel Macron's attention. Since his first five-year term, the President of the Republic has cultivated his relationships with approximately 1 million French hunters, multiplying friendly gestures and gifts. "He has always been very vigilant on issues related to the hunting world," confirms Thierry Coste, a pro-hunting lobbyist close to the President of the Republic. As early as 2017, candidate Macron repeated the sector's rhetoric: "Hunting is neither a sport nor a leisure activity, but a way of life." Eight years later, hunters have never had it easier. A look back at the President of the Republic's pro-hunting decisions.
December 16, 2017. Emmanuel Macron celebrates his 40th birthday in a gîte near the Château de Chambord. On this occasion, he participates in the "presentation of the tableau," a ceremony during which hunters display the killed game. A symbolic presence, "it's the first time in forty years that a president has come to the forest at the end of the hunt," enthuses Thierry Coste. The head of state praises the practice - "a formidable asset for biodiversity" - and promises: "I will be the President who develops hunting, you can always count on me," Libération reported at the time.
