Moirans-en-Montagne (39). Why some of the trees planted by Macron did not survive

It was a plot of spruce trees that had been ravaged by bark beetles. In the Moirans-en-Montagne forest in the Jura region, Emmanuel Macron launched the “One Young Person, One Tree” initiative on November 24, 2023, so that every middle school student could participate in planting a tree during their schooling. On this occasion, around fifty students planted 150 trees of three different species: Atlas cedar, downy oak, and Norway maple. These are species that the ONF (National Forestry Office) hopes will be more resilient to the climatic conditions of the coming years.
