Saint-Avold. Inside the largest gas power plant in France

TotalEnergies' natural gas-fired power plant plays a key role in ensuring the security of energy supply. The Spanish blackout has placed it on standby in case the problem spreads. Students studying for a BTS (Advanced Technician's Certificate) in Automatic Systems Design and Production (CRSA) at Charles Jully High School recently spent a day there.
The control room is the nerve center of the Saint-Avold combined-cycle gas power plant , a plant located in the Europort area. It is the large room where operators have their eyes glued to the screens and monitor the smallest details, even during periods of non-production, as was the case this Tuesday, April 29.
"Are you up to date with the news?" a technician asks the students. A reference to the blackout that occurred the day before across the entire Iberian Peninsula, affecting a small part of southwest France.
