Saône-et-Loire. For these projects near you, Europe is getting out its checkbook

The place is quiet on this public holiday, a few young people have taken a break at the brand-new playground. In Chagny, the brand-new green belt undeniably beautifies the town. This urban planning jargon hides the creation of several parks and squares, a link between the forest and the river, a haven of greenery in a town crossed by the National Highway 6. A €1.4 million project for this town in the north of the department, labeled "Small Town of Tomorrow."
Corresponding to Europe's objectivesAmong the funders were the usual departments, regions, and governments. But also the European Union. "Our project met Europe's biodiversity objectives," explains Mayor Sébastien Laurent. And so, the prize was a grant of €239,000, a third of the total aid.
