Weather: Orange alert for thunderstorms and rain in three departments

Météo-France has forecast "stormy activity during the day with an active passage in the evening and early part of the night." "The expected rainfall totals could be significant locally in a short period of time," the press release states, with precipitation in the order of 60 to 80 mm and up to 120 mm in the mountains.

The storms, accompanied by strong electrical activity, hail and gusts of wind, are expected to begin in the early afternoon in the mountains and in Lozère , before spreading to the plains in the late afternoon.

Depending on the development of these storms, departments in the south-east quarter and Corsica could also be placed on orange alert.
