The Frejus torrent overflows in the village, the moment that plunges Bardonecchia back into nightmare

A man, about 50 years old, died in a flood in Bardonecchia (Turin). According to an initial reconstruction, the police found him in the Merdovine stream, about four hundred meters from his van. The police are carrying out a series of investigations into what happened. The victim is an Italian, who was missing. The firefighters intervened with ten teams including the Drago helicopter. Ten people were evacuated from a building and four others were recovered from their cars. The operations are still being hampered by the evolution of adverse weather conditions.

The Frejus river has overflowed in the center of Bardonecchia (Turin), where it is impossible to pass, almost two years after the flood of August 2023. The Municipality has launched the maximum alert. "Do not approach the bridges and avoid traveling especially in via Einaudi and Passeggiata Donatori di Sangue" is the appeal of the mayor, Chiara Rossetti, who invites you to "follow the indications of the local authorities" and "orders not to leave the house and not to use the car" the Municipality informs. Flooding has been recorded on the A32 Turin Bardonecchia motorway and the exit for the tourist resort has been closed in both directions.
