Enea may move forward with its investment in Kozienice. Extra-time capacity auction a success

The President of the Energy Regulatory Office announced the final results of the capacity market auction. It ended successfully for Enea. Favorable results from the capacity market will support Enea's investments, including, in particular, the construction of two modern 1.3 MW combined cycle gas-steam units at the Kozienice Power Plant , the company said in a statement.
Enea secured a total of 2,024 MW of capacity obligation in a tie-break auction on the capacity market and a total of over PLN 13 billion in support for the group. For the new gas-fired units, this represents 1,218 MW for 17 years. Over the entire term of the contracts, the new units will generate total revenues of at least PLN 11 billion. The auction closed at PLN 534.09/kW/year, Enea announced.
The announcement of the final results of the extra-time auction of the capacity market is also the fulfillment of the last condition for the entry into force of Enea's contract for the design, construction and commissioning of two gas-steam units together with the accompanying infrastructure at the Kozienice Power Plant .
The total value of the turnkey contract (EPC - Engineering, Procurement and Construction) is nearly PLN 6.4 billion net.
Two units, each with a nominal gross electrical capacity of 668 MWe, will operate in the so-called combined cycle (CCGT – Combined Cycle Gas Turbine).
The planned commissioning dates for the units are March 31 and June 30, 2029, respectively . The units will play a regulatory role in the renewable energy system, reduce CO2 emissions, and fill the capacity gap in the power system from 2029.
The Enea Group's capacity contract package has also been supplemented in the conventional energy segment for modernized, existing power plants . Under the 5-year contracts, Połaniec Power Plant received support for 806 MW and revenues of over PLN 2.1 billion . For the 2029 delivery year , the group will have a total of 3,573 MW of capacity obligations, Enea said in a statement.
