DNIT inspects public ports in Barcelos, Envira and Eirunepé, in AM

Team evaluates the structure and operation of the IP4; the inauguration of the facility in Barcelos is scheduled for August
Teams from Brasília's National Department of Transportation Infrastructure (DNIT) are in the state of Amazonas to conduct technical visits to the Small Public Port Facilities (IP4). The agenda, which began on Monday (21) and ends this Thursday (24), includes inspections in the municipalities of Barcelos, Envira and Eirunepé, with the aim of evaluating the structural and operational conditions of the facilities built in the region.
The visits will be attended by Edme Tavares, Director of Waterway Infrastructure, as well as technicians from the Directorate and the Amazonas Regional Superintendence (SR/AM). In Barcelos, the final inspection of the local IP4 highway was conducted, and after a technical analysis, the DNIT will confirm receipt of the structure. If the technical report is approved, the inauguration is scheduled for August.
Located 399 kilometers from Manaus and accessible only by river or air, the municipality of Barcelos is a tourist hub and a reference for sport fishing. The new port facility, equipped with a backport area and capacity to accommodate vessels of various sizes, will facilitate the movement of residents and visitors, in addition to boosting the local economy.
In Envira and Eirunepé, inspections take place in regions with even more limited access due to geographic isolation and the lack of land transport. In these locations, river transport is virtually the only means of transportation, making public ports essential for ensuring supplies, the movement of goods, and connecting communities with the rest of the state.
