Increased movement at Brazilian airports

More than 61 million passengers passed through the terminals in the first half of the year; Galeão leads the way
Brazilian commercial aviation broke records in the first half of 2025. In the first six months of this year, 61.8 million passengers traveled on domestic and international flights.
Airport traffic grew 10% compared to the same period last year.
From January to June of this year, there were 13.8 million tourists on international flights, an increase of 15.3%. Domestic flights saw growth of 8.6%, with over 40 million passengers traveling.
"We are experiencing the best period for our civil aviation industry, and the numbers prove it. If we maintain this pace in the second half of this year, we will close 2025 with the best result in history. This represents a significant gain not only for our sector, but for everyone. When aviation does well, tourism does well, as does the hotel sector and, most importantly, our economy," said Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports, in a statement.
Demand
According to a survey by the ministry, based on the Demand and Supply Report of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), among the 10 largest airports in the country with the highest movement, the best performance was observed at Galeão International Airport, in Rio de Janeiro, which went from 6.5 million passengers to 8.2 million travelers in 2025, growth of over 26%.
With 6.2 million passengers transported, Confins International Airport in Belo Horizonte also stood out in the first half of the year, with a nearly 15% increase. The country's largest airport, Guarulhos, in São Paulo, grew 8% in the first six months of the year, with nearly 22 million travelers.
Although it lost a position in the ranking of the busiest, Brasília Airport showed an increase of 7.6% during the period, with movement of more than 7.5 million people, the best result since 2019.
According to the National Secretary of Civil Aviation, Tomé Franca, the outlook for the coming months is positive, given public investment in airport infrastructure and institutional support for airlines. (Agência Brasil)
