Julião calls for urgency and unity in the sector to speed up the new legal framework

CEO of Grupo Brasil Export argued that the new law aims to modernize ports and guarantee new investments in the sector
The CEO of Grupo Brasil Export, Fabricio Julião, advocated for the union of the port sector to speed up the process that discusses the new regulatory framework for ports in the National Congress. According to Julião, the new port law is important to modernize the sector and guarantee the legal security necessary for new investments in infrastructure in Brazil.
During participation in the solemn session of Sul Export, Regional Forum of Logistics, Infrastructure and Transport, on Monday (28), at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, he highlighted the work of judge Celso Peel at the head of the committee of jurists that prepared the bill for the revision of port legislation.
“The new ports bill changes the configuration of the sector, brings modernity and, above all, brings legal certainty. We can no longer go through these bureaucratic issues that we see happening,” he said.
Julião highlighted that there is pressure from institutions linked to the port sector for the new regulatory framework to be approved in the Chamber of Deputies.
“I am appealing for the sector to unite, as it did in the case of the climate tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul, on this very important issue before the National Congress. We need this to be discussed as soon as possible and for a special committee to be set up to debate this issue, because the sector really needs this new legislation. It is necessary to maintain jobs, modernize jobs and, above all, to continue with the necessary investments, not only in Rio Grande do Sul, but throughout Brazil. May our representatives be able to raise awareness in the Federal Government so that this bill can move forward,” he concluded.
The following authorities participated in the solemn session of Sul Export 2025: Beto Martins, Secretary of Ports, Airports and Railways of the State of Santa Catarina; Dino Batista, National Secretary of Waterways; Cloves Benevides, Undersecretary of Sustainability of the Ministry of Transport; José Roberto Campos, President of the National Council of Brasil Export; Hiratan Pinheiro da Silva, Regional Superintendent of the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) in Rio Grande do Sul; Andrea Flores Vieira, Legal Attorney of the Secretariat of Logistics and Transport of RS; Celso Peel, Judge of the TRT (Regional Labor Court) and Scientific Coordinator of the Legal Council of Brasil Export; Maria Cristina Dutra, Executive Manager of the National Federation of Port Operations (Fenop); and Fabricio Forest, Director of Attractions and Investment Attraction and Trade Promotion of Invest RS.
