Lack of logistics jeopardizes Brazil's progress, warns ambassador

Guillermo Valles highlighted at Sul Export that events such as the regional forum are fundamental to discussing solutions and strengthening integration with the Southern Cone

Present at the solemn session of Sul Export, Regional Forum of Logistics, Infrastructure and Transport, on Monday (28), at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of Rio Grande do Sul, in Porto Alegre, the ambassador of Uruguay in Brazil, Guillermo Valles, reinforced the role of Brasil Export in promoting debate events that foster Brazilian logistics.

According to him, who is also honorary president of the Mercosul Export Council, logistics needs to be prioritized within Brazil, which is already one of the main powers in the world.

“I can tell you that this is the most important forum in my entire career as Uruguay’s ambassador. I feel that it is truly the forum that Brazil needs. Brazil has become a powerhouse, as we all know, but without the logistics needed, Brazil will not achieve the goals that the world expects. Without logistics, Brazil’s potential is greatly diminished,” he said.

Towards the end of the formal session of the Sul Export forum, the Uruguayan ambassador to Brazil, Guillermo Valles, was honored by the Brasil Export Group for his great services to the sector. He, who is also the honorary president of the Mercosul Export Council, received a plaque from the hands of the CEO of Brasil Export, Fabrício Julião, and the president of the group's National Council, José Roberto Campos. When mentioning the climate events that hit Rio Grande do Sul, Valles commented that crises create opportunities that aim to meet the economic development of Brazil and the countries of the Southern Cone.

“We are coming out of a crisis, in the case of Rio Grande do Sul, which affected the transportation system, but we have a bigger crisis in the world, which is legal security, which is making us go back to the past. We cannot miss a crisis, because a crisis is also an opportunity. Brazil and the countries of the Southern Cone must keep their eyes on strategic objectives in terms of competitiveness,” he commented.

Focus on modals

The coordinator of the FIERGS Logistics Thematic Group, Sergio Klein, highlighted that events such as the Sul Export forum serve to find solutions for the state's main modes of transport, which are vital for the development of industrial activity.

“It is not enough to be efficient and competitive from the factory door to the factory floor if we do not have good logistics. We need to find solutions for road transport, water transport, which we need to encourage in our state, the airport sector, which has suffered so much, and also rail transport, which is disconnected from the rest of the country. We need to find solutions through this union of municipalities, states, the Federal Government and the business community,” he said.
