National Iberian Lynx Reproduction Center seeks volunteers for Silves

National Iberian Lynx Reproduction Center seeks volunteers for Silves

The Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests ( ICNF ) has opened three vacancies for volunteers at the National Iberian Lynx Reproduction Center (CNRLI), in Silves.

The internship will last three months and the volunteers will be integrated into the CNRLI ethology and video surveillance team and will all receive training for this purpose.

In this sense, the National Iberian Lynx Reproduction Center is looking for motivated people, preferably with training in the areas of natural sciences.

Accommodation during the volunteering period will be provided free of charge at the CNRLI facilities, with an amount equivalent to a meal allowance (six euros) being granted for each eight-hour work shift and will be covered by personal accident insurance.

Operating since 2009, the National Center was created as part of the project to reintroduce the Iberian lynx into the wild, actively contributing to the Ex Situ Conservation Program and efforts to recover wild populations, through captive breeding, preparation and release of specimens intended for reintroduction.

This year alone, 11 cubs have already been born at the Center. In total, 181 Iberian lynxes have been born at the CNRLI since 2009, for reintroduction into the wild at various points in the Iberian Peninsula.

Applications for volunteering in Silves must be sent by email ( [email protected] ).
