North American Blackrock is considering bidding for Tecon Santos 10
Blackrock One of the leading asset and investment management companies in the global market, the American company Blackrock is considering participating in the auction for Tecon Santos 10, a mega container and general cargo terminal to be built in the Port of Santos (SP). If it enters the bidding process, it won't do so alone. The company prefers to work with partners to share risks.
In partnership Blackrock adopted a similar strategy when it acquired approximately 80% of the ports division of Asian conglomerate CK Hutchinson last semester. In this case, it was partnering with the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Group. The $22.8 billion transaction encompassed 43 terminals in 23 countries, totaling 199 berths.
In Brazil Through its infrastructure arm, Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), BlackRock has been investing in Brazil. In April of this year, it acquired a strategic stake in Aliança Energia, a Vale company. The transaction was worth US$1 billion.
Sustainability The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, presented the guidelines for the Federal Government's sustainability plan during a sugar-energy market event in Pernambuco on Monday. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of producing SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), a new sustainable fuel that will be essential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in Brazilian aviation. According to Costa Filho, the government plans to make the country a major exporter of the fuel, with the goal of introducing 10% SAF in aviation by 2050.
Optimism "It is a priority for President Lula's government to put projects that address sustainability, decarbonization, and the energy transition on the agenda," the minister stated. He expressed optimism, predicting that "in the next 20 years, Brazil will be the world's largest exporter of SAF."
Ethanol In his speech, Silvio Costa Filho also reinforced the strategic role of ethanol produced in the Northeast as a clean fuel for the future. "The Northeast sugarcane sector is a strong ally in building sustainable development," he said. The minister highlighted that the industry represents 2% of Brazil's GDP and employs over 700,000 people, in addition to generating renewable energy.
