Salvador hosts the second edition of the Port Innovation Caravans

Salvador hosts the second edition of the Port Innovation Caravans

Event promoted by the Federal Government in partnership with HUB Brasil Export and other agents will be held on May 7th and 8th

Innovate to develop and boost the achievements of Brazilian ports. With this purpose, the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) will promote, on May 7 and 8, in Salvador (BA), the second edition of the Port Innovation Caravans. The itinerant initiative aims to strengthen and spread the culture of innovation in the national port sector, inspired by the model of the Federative Caravans, created by the Federal Government to strengthen cooperation between the Union, states and municipalities.

The participation of the executive secretary of the Ministry of Ports and Airports, Mariana Pescatori, the vice-president of the Republic, Geraldo Alckmin and other authorities and specialists in the sector is expected.

“Together with Antaq and Hub Brasil Export, we will travel across the country, starting in our Northeast, to discuss the importance of technology in public and private ports, in addition to improving the governance of our terminals, with a focus on the environmental agenda. The 'Paperless Port', for example, aims to modernize and reduce bureaucracy in administrative and operational processes, promoting digitalization and data integration between authorities. With this, our ports will become increasingly agile and sustainable, driving Brazil's green future,” highlighted the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.

The event also seeks to strengthen integration between ports and surrounding communities, fostering local social development through port activities. The program includes thematic panels, technical visits and networking opportunities to boost innovation in the state of Bahia. Through forums and practical activities, the Caravan aims to promote an environment of open dialogue, focusing on the challenges to innovation in the country's port complexes.

Event in six complexes

MPor's proposal foresees holding events in six port complexes in the Northeast and Southeast regions throughout 2025. In addition to Salvador (BA), the ports of Fortaleza (CE), Rio de Janeiro (RJ) and Itaqui (MA) will host the next editions. In February, Pernambuco hosted the first Caravan, held at Porto Digital and the Port of Recife, bringing together managers, companies, specialists and public agencies from the port sector.

The actions of the Port Innovation Caravans are structured around three axes: inspire, share and connect, providing a collaborative environment in which innovations can be discussed and implemented. The objectives include raising awareness among port authorities about the importance of innovation, encouraging the formation of strategic partnerships and developing a portfolio of projects that involves the entire logistics chain of the sector.
